a Message from the Principal

Dear South families,

Welcome to South Middle School, home of the Trojans! I am Principal Robert Lingo – a proud member of the 1992 graduating class of Grants Pass High School.  I attended Highland Elementary School and North Middle School before moving on to GPHS!  I received my bachelor’s degree in mathematics and master’s degree in education from Southern Oregon University.  I have 2 daughters.  One is a recent graduate of Sothern Oregon University and will be starting her first year as a PE/Health teacher at Lincoln Savage Middle School.  The other will be a junior at Oregon State University this fall.

This school year will be the start of my 26th year working for Grants Pass School District 7 (my 27th year overall in education).

At South Middle School we value Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, and Excellence.  We are a community dedicated to learning while promoting integrity and respect.  We are proud of our 33 highly qualified and passionate teachers who go above and beyond to ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed. We offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities and events, including athletics, music, and student clubs, to provide our students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for success both in and out of the classroom.

This year, we will continue to focus on the South COR – Connections, Organization and Routines.  We welcome your support and involvement, particularly through our outstanding PTSA. We believe that communication and collaboration are key to a successful school year, and we encourage parents and community members to stay involved and engaged in our school.

Please check ParentSquare or our website regularly for updates and information on upcoming events and notices.

Thank you for entrusting us with the education of your child. We look forward to a great year of learning and growth at South Middle School.  Go Trojans!

Sincerely,
Mr. Lingo
